American Sign Language – Baby Fingers

By August 22, 2014Blog

Learn American Sign Language through songs and play with other parents, educators, and/or children close to your child s age. Go home each week with new vocabulary and new tunes to enhance communication between you and your child! Whether you intend to incorporate sign language in your life for the long term or simply during this pre-verbal/developing verbal time, watch in awe as your child discovers the world of language. See the research come to life, as music and sign language both aid in the development of language and literacy. Brooklyn programs best for children birth to 18 months.

On their web site, the Mayo Clinic writes, “Limited research suggests that baby sign language might give a typically developing child a way to communicate several months earlier than those who only use vocal communication. This might help ease frustration between ages 8 months and 2 years when children begin to know what they want, need and feel but don’t necessarily have the verbal skills to express themselves.” (Link to full article here.)
